Gun also has the half c o c k feature to carry loaded. I bought safety removal part. Easy to install and no more forgetting to check the safety after pulling the hammer back. I preferred 150 grain ammo, or better yet the Hornaday lever evolution 160's, makes the 30-30 like it's on steroids. good luck...

My brother and I both had them installed in the 70's on our 20ga Ithaca Deerslayer shotguns. Along with a Remington rifle ramp front sight. We are both in our mid/late 70's now, killed a lot of deer with those guns. And they'll really hammer a coyote.
