Where can I get a decent warm one? I’m not looking for silly pajamas. I want a one piece suit so the chill doesn’t creep in under the shirt. I have quite a few pair of long Johns; shirts and tops. But would prefer a one piece deal. Till it’s time to pee then it’s gonna be a pain.

Hmmm....well they used to have a trap door for elimination purposes. No idea if they make that style anymore...

You might be better off with a body band for the small of your back...could probably make one out of a cut off sweater....

LL Bean still makes a decent set I know.

Last pair I had were like polarfleece material. Don't remember who made them

Lots of the old style red ones still available at farm stores. Tractor Supply, Bomgaars etc. They still even have the bum button.

Don’t know who makes regular long johns but them things are a PITA the body part shrinks and the arms get longer but the elastic always seems to stretch 4 sizes bigger. LOL

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

They still make them, with a trapdoor too.

When my kids were young they dubbed me Uncle Ubb because of my habit of wearing my union suits around the house in the evenings.

I used to wear a brand called Duofolds, a blend of wool and cotton. I've since switched to military ECWCS long underwear and gave up the union suits.

Eh...wot?

Got mine from Duluth trading company, very warm.
It's gotta be below 0 before I would even think of wearing it.

Let me sugar coat this

Looks like Indera Mills has the best price, I'd go with the merino wool/cotton one.

Duofold makes the classic red ones and I suspect the l.l. bean ones and similar. The use a two layer fabric of 100% cotton inside and 40% merino outer layer. I like them but the cotton content can be an issue if you sweat like I do. I won't wear them if any heated exertion in cold environments is part of the plan. They have a vertical trap door spread it type fly which I prefer to the bombs away hanging flap. Toilet bowl, iykyk.

Carhart makes a poly cotton blend one. As do a few others.

For synthetics I like my fleece ones from Sportsman Guide/Guide Gear. The zipper is crap, but the sleeveless is nice to release excess heat. The material will get wet with sweat but it wicks well and dries quickly. Can get a bit smelly if worn for long periods away from the washing machine. Has an elastic horizontal trapdoor fly, no bombs away flap.

For wool I find Stanfields of Canada and Minus33.

The stanfields is a heavyweight, which is why I don't have a pair. They used to offer a midweight in superwash wool.
The minus33 is supposed to be merino and a light to mid weight. I really don't care for the cut of it or the pricing.

I have these pages bookmarked for wool.

The thing I like most about a union suit, aside from the lack of bunching up around my middle, is the ability to fine tune heat control in cold weather. I can open up right down the front to bare skin if getting hot and sweaty like on, the walk in, then button up once on stand and immobile.

That’s hilarious!!
This one episode with Goofy, he hunted all day and kept his same long Johns on for dinner…
Of course he ended up shooting his decoy

It's going to cost you more but what you really want is a wool union suit , probably merino wool

or good overlapping top and bottom wool base layers

too many of the union suits now are cotton or plastic so when you sweat in them they are not good.

polyester wicks sweat. the ones i use are 3% spandex. wool is incredibly warm. even when its wet. can be itchy depending on the wearer.

Last spring when I was out of state, called up Bemidji Woolen Mills ,who keeps all of these on the shelf, and had them ship me the mid weight wool ones to where I was working. I had them in two days.

I own a pair of the heavy weight ones too, and I wear a t- shirt underneath to start with. You wouldn’t be able to walk around deep snow hand falling trees in the heavy ones without breaking a sweat in 20 below.

Both sets are machine washable. The mid weight are like dual folds and came out when LLBean quit selling them.

stanfields is about the best you can buy.

I am 6’3” tall and weigh 230 in winter so I ordered a XXL(2XL) as they do not offer tall sizes. The gent at Bemidji gave me good guidance regarding that.
