Here in NH....there are zones or Wild life Management Units...that only allow muzzleloader

And shot guns only. Then there are rifle zones...where it is less populated.

But now ...you can use a Straight Walled Cartridge in 45-70 ...in the shotgun only zones .

Any other states like this ???

There are a lot of states that now allow straight wall cases. I believe Iowa is one and parts on MN will be that way this next year. It is what is fueling the "Blackout" caliber craze. You can't give used slug guns away anymore.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Michigan allows straight walls in the shotgun zone. Became legal maybe 5 or 6 years ago.

If I had a dollar for everyone I know that owns a 450 Bushmaster I’d be able to buy one.

Same as here Nessy. Ben shoots a .44 mag. Henry Carbine.

The .350 and .400 legends are popular along with the .450 bushmaster mentioned above.

45/70 is legal but the old .30-30 isn't, and that's a shame.

I've just stuck with my ol' model 12 shotgun. Killed a lot of deer with it over the years.

These are straight-walled. I think you should get you a nice double rifle and take it out to woods. Be a good brush gun. LOL

I didn't know that you were a model 12 man. We can officially be friends now.

They've been chambering it in revolvers and single shot pistols for more than fifty years. Ive always thought it was funny that it's legal in straight wall places, because technically it's tapered.

I've got just the one, Sam. I bought it for 150 bucks years ago, and only use it for deer hunting. It likes those cheap Winchester slugs and puts them right where you want em.
My brother in law is a true model 12 collector and has a safe full of them, including some rare ones.

in Illinois its straight wall or necked down case less than 1.6 inches long I think which makes the 300 BO legal

Careful trusting AI I googled something about our regs in MN and AI was way off from the law book on the answer it gave. Could get a guy in trouble.

We were like that here for a long time and we built some .358 WSSM rifles that fit the specks and then they changed it to about any rifle caliber on private ground.

We don't have any shotgun only areas here, but they let you use single shot rifles .35 cal or larger in the early primitive weapons season.

Years ago I bought a 12 ga Mossburg bolt action with a riffled barrel. I just finally put a scope on it, need to get it sighted in. Bet that’s going to be a fun one.
We do have a shotgun only elk hunt here, I would like to draw it in the next few years.

Here is our 1.6" case with a 35cal, 225gn Sierra that we made for Indiana that fit the parameters' for the pistol cartridges that were legal. I changed the rifle to a 300WSM after they opened up the rifle hunting. [Linked Image]

I can't remember, I texted a friend to see if he has it written down. They quit making the Sierras and I switched to the 35cal Barnes 200gn TTSX, they were faster and flatter shooting. Both stoned a deer! We used H4895.

I don’t understand how New Hampshire has two Democrat U.S. Senators and both of your U.S. House of Representatives are Democrats. Do they vote for anti-gun legislation?

MI made the change to allow straight wall cartridges in the southern / shotgun zone ~2014

A co-worker and I built him a wildcat of sorts to meet the requirements and basically get 45-70 numbers, without being too long for the MI regs (like the 45-70 is).

We just trimmed a pile of 45-70 brass down to the max length allowed (1.80") and worked up a load that was hitting medium strength 45-70 loads.

Once the gunshop in the thumb partnered with Ruger in 2016 to make their Americans in 450 BM, that became the biggest thing since sliced bread and did exactly what we did.
