I was a commercial knapper for 15 years, and I know many of the best knappers in the trade. Those are definitely well done, and you know what you are doing. Kudos!

Very nice work, thank you for sharing.

The dark material looks very nice. Is it knapped raw, or heat treated?

Curious which style is more durable and lasts longer. Seems the hafting style/stem is the weak link as far as breakage after shooting game. All things considered, which style you choosing in a hunting/survival situation and why?

These are not my best, but they will take the wind out of a deer!

Very cool. I've always wanted to take a deer with a stone point, but it's not legal here. I still want to learn to knap someday.

Beautiful points, Our local stone is Quartzite, which is tough to work, I can't do it, lol, but admire those that can.

The points I find here are all quartzite, and triangular with no tang....other then wedging the point into the arrow shaft and glueing them in with pitch I can't figure how they mounted them....any experts feel free to chime in...

Tomahawker I figure a socketed style haft would be the most durable! Not sure how often that system was used.

Cattrapper, I have a legitimate spear point that's also triangular, about 1 1/4" per side, way to big for an arrow, whoever made it knew his business, perfectly even, beautiful work...

my best friend shot a spike with one a friend of ours napped. you cant tell the difference between a deer shot with a cut on impact steel two blade head or one that is napped. his was from that obsidion black stuff. double lunged, blood everywhere, maybe a 50 yard recovery

Obsidian is at least 50 times sharper than surgical steel. Some surgeons use it now.
