I like the quote by the conservation officer.
Most people unfortunately take that in one ear and out the other
Took me many years to understand and respect that

So 172 permits and 37 were bought. that means 135 hunters got 52 bears. I don't know but I might have taken the $2,000. But that is a heck of a good average of success. Wonder if the game wardens helped find the animals for the hunters.......jk

That will buy a lot of gear for me, fishing and trappin. Not sure. When Pa had the first draw for bobcat year 2000 I think. I was drawn and was offered $500 for that, did not take it but thought a long time about it.....jk

Since we are allowed up to three bears a year here in SW Oregon, I’d gladly sell off a tag for two grand if legal!

52 bears is only a miniscule number of what Florida's bear population can sustain.

Nearly 250 are killed annually in vehicle collisions.

FWC is tiptoeing back into an annual bear season because of those animal rights idiots.

SW did your department have anything to do in directing hunters to spots for hunting. In NJ 15(?) years ago the local warden told us the best place to hunt for bears and he was right!!!!

I'm in Georgia & worked for Georgia DNR.

I know several FWC officers (as I'm near the state line) and I'm sure they gave some good hunting advice. FWC is very pro-bear hunting and they have been in a multi-decades long battle with the animal rights nuts about Florida bear hunting.

This past bear season (12 days) here in SE Georgia hunters killed 160+/-, which is about average for this 6 or 7 county area around the Okefenokee Swamp. Most bears are killed using hounds down here.
