Caught my first coyote first night out on public on a set 2 of my kids help me put in. Small female. Other trap was cleaned of dirt and bait/lure hole dug out. I re did the set better this time. We shall see if it helps any. I haven't caught any more coons yet but hopefully that change with the warm up that's coming. [Linked Image]

Good job.

Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

Looks like a back foot catch. Most likely trying to mark or scratch back on your set. Tells you something about your lure / bait system may need adjusting.

Congratulations on your first Coyote!
There’s a good chance she just got lucky at your other set and you got her at the next

Thanks ya'll. Well, 6 days later in the trap that got dug up and I remade got my 2nd coyote. Another female. This time the front foot. Sure made me proud to catch one on a failed set that I remade. Makes me feel like I'm actually learning and doing something right. [Linked Image]

Congratulations! You will have plenty more dug up over the years if you keep at it. I have trapped thousands of coyotes and just had a trap dug up the other day. Actually, repeated diggers are just begging to get caught. Its the ones who dig you up and never return that will make you mad. Once the same trap gets dug more than once, its usually a done deal that critter will be on a stretcher soon.
