My sister had a bunch of Sam’s Club points that are to expire and she doesn’t have one near her. She transferred them to me so mom and I made the trip to Morgantown wv to pick up half of our order, the rest is shipping…canned and dry goods.
Spent this afternoon separating and vacuum sealing various meats , frozen fruits and other items.

Sis feels strongly that the world is gonna end, but she lives in California… hopefully they finish their house in PA soon so they can move back and get a gun..

Good use of points. Wife and i are both Sam's plus members. I have no idea what that means but we use our sam's club (mastercard) for most all purchases. Wife is very on game in making sure they are paid timely to avoid any interest. We had not gone to Sam's in nearly a year. She checked our accounts she had accrued over $800 in usable credit and mine accrued over $2000. We made two trips stocking up and took two of our local adult daughters on a spree. I still have about $1000 left to use but we stuck to food and bathroom products. No t.v.'s. lol

Keeping a few groceries on hand is like keeping some money held back. Good chance you wont ever need it but if you do will need it real bad. Same with a gun kept only to be used as a weapon.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

We all just lived through Covid. It did not take long for stores to get emptied! Keeping supplies is very good advice.

I kinda hoped that would occur before I had to transition to Jr High, or before my grandparents died…

I am disappointed that they didn’t have a bigger selection of root vegetables, which tend to keep longer . We got a mess of huge carrots , potatoes and sweet potatoes for cheap tho

Start with something easy. You got that big ol bag of strawberries, make some jam. You don't need any special tools or anything, just a large stock pot and a case of jelly jars, and a box of pectin. I like the SureJel pink box pectin because there's just toooo much sugar for my taste in the recipe that uses the yellow box, the pink box has just the right amount of sweetness in my opinion. Just follow the directions that come in the SureJel box. And if you're using a stock pot instead of a canning pot with a rack, be sure to sink a dish towel into the bottom of the pot of water to set the jars on so they don't break. Easy peasy.

Don't forget to include a few bricks of 22 shells with your stash.

Like Danny said salt is salt, most people forget about salt when prepping, there are many uses.

We have a garden and I grind four deer per year. We purchase cases of chicken several times per year, directly from the processor. My freezer is slammed and protected by a generator.

Cosco had whole Parma (Spanish) hams for sale at Christmas. They don't require refrigeration and it takes a month or more to eat one. I sawed the bones and kept the fat for seasoning. They do not require cooking. They are salty so I can't eat a lot at one time. I grazed on ours from Thanksgiving until Christmas.
