Here's The Scoop On Cat Poop Coffee | KUNC
Yes, a type of coffee called Kopi Luwak (or civet coffee) is made from beans that have passed through the digestive system of the Asian Palm Civet, a cat-like mammal in Southeast Asia, not domestic cats; the civet eats ripe coffee cherries, and its digestive enzymes alter the beans, creating a unique, less acidic, and sought-after (but ethically controversial) brew after excretion.
How It Works (The Civet Process)
Consumption: Asian Palm Civets eat the sweet, ripe coffee cherries, selecting the best ones.
Digestion: The fleshy fruit is digested, but the hard inner bean passes through the civet's digestive tract.
Fermentation & Alteration: Stomach acids and enzymes ferment and break down proteins in the bean, reducing bitterness and acidity.
Excretion: The beans are defecated, collected, cleaned, and roasted.
Key Facts
Not Domestic Cats: The "cat" in Kopi Luwak refers to the civet, a small, nocturnal mammal.
Unique Flavor: The digestive process removes some bitterness, resulting in a smoother, earthy, and sweeter flavor profile.
Ethical Concerns: High demand has led to the capture and caging of civets, causing animal welfare issues, though ethically sourced, wild-collected beans exist.

Of course BRCC does not believe in any of that anymore. They never used to sell to box stores either so they could control quality and freshness

I don't mind the keurig idea. But I almost never just have one cup.

Our coffee maker can do the k cups as well as drip. We get them sometimes for special brews.

I assume it’s gotta be shells from raw eggs or will shells from boiled eggs work too?

I will mix these two in a blend tomorrow and see how I like it.

I get coffee from a little shop (Front Porch Cafe) that buys the beans then roasts them at one of their 4 stores locally. They have about 20 different types of coffee available that they roast and
sell. Everyday they have 4 different coffees fresh ground and brewed. I have gotten so accustomed to their coffee that l will not drink coffee from a restaurant or any other store.
I usually go through a pound of course ground with my French press every two weeks, in addition to stopping by one of their stores every morning go to work.
I wouldn’t hit a bull in the rear with Folgers or Maxwell House and Starbucks l refuse to support in any manner.

You inspired me to break out our French press for coffee this morning! I thought my wife was nuts when she showed me a French press for the first time, but it does make a dang good way above average cup of coffee! A nice treat now and then. Happy trapping! ScottW

Good coffee should have foam.

Plus its a lot easier to make coffee camping with a french press. At conventions, usually my breakfast is coffee and oatmeal. Boil water in my kettle then when the water is ready, some goes to the oatmeal, some goes to the coffee(let the water cool down a bit before it touches coffee, boiling water and coffee is no good)
