Are you wanting to catch some or totally eliminate the problem ? I'd pick a pellet or bar bait designed to do the job over a bait like peanut butter, if total elimination is your goal. Most farm Co-op's sell products such as : Jaguar, Tom Cat and Silver Hawk, just to name a few. I use Tom Cat all the time for mice. I prefer it to D-Con.
Every time I laugh, cough, or sneeze, my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires.

Been using a 1.5 victor long spring blind set in strategic places around the shed and cabin. Also have a 120 with trigger pan in use. Lost count but I'm up at over 70 confirmed in the past 12 months. Have also used poison blocks that disappear but still rat activity. Snap traps have caught less than 5 over this time period.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Only on trapperman would you see beaver feet listed as a rat bait, LOL.
Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you

For sure. I've found mummified beaver feet that rats had stashed away in places I never expected.

I’ve always wondered if the cats don’t catch mice then bring the home and lose them in the landscaping. Cats have grooves in their teeth designed by nature to hold bacteria. If cats bite a prey animal and it gets away, that animal usually becomes weak from the infection and becomes easy to catch or even dies. Few prey animals survive being bitten by a cat. Cat bites are bad for humans too. Most people deeply bitten by cats need medical treatment. Diane, my mom and my friend Cathy all had to take intravenous antibiotics and have surgery to excise tissue infected by cat bites from their hands. Keith

![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/01/full-698-282490-img_4613.jpeg) Been trying to catch this one for a couple of weeks. The bait that finally got him to stand on the pan was a beaver oil sac placed below the pan on the frame. This catch made my day! Thank you for the picture! I appreciate everyone"s response . I have lots of poison bait on hand, just fun to do trapping too. I have dealt with a barn rat who wouldn't touch but I did snap trap him eventually. Also open to learning about the best rat trap as well.

You're welcome. I also catch standard Norways. This one yesterday when I noticed a new run under the fur shed. No bait, just blind set. 1.5 Victor LS
