I just thought having no swivel coupled with a fence staple was maybe not ideal.

I had the best interest, including his in mind.

I agree. Even if I don't think the swivel is important for the reasons I mentioned, one isn't going to hurt anything, and the fence staple is less than ideal. If he is using two inch staples in thin barked trees it would probably be ok, but by the looks of some of his other sets, he may not realize that and have them stapled to red fir or yellow pine with bark over two inches thick, or be using 3/4" staples.
