Cold day is a good day to fire up the oven. Roasted chicken, yams, smothered green beans. What are you all having?

Anyone have a pan like this? I don’t think I could live without it. It’s my popcorn and candy making pan. Nothing works better.

LOL I used to pop corn in a pan like that only larger, had two handles .
Mom would use it to cook, and then feed the dogs with it.
LOL Every Friday night , I would have to find that pan, wash it as best as I could.
Then make popcorn for the Flintstones !
Loved that pan, was good at getting very few old maids with it.

Yes it is. 3 quart Miracle Maid brand pan. Very heavy, almost nothing sticks to it. I may have to buy myself another one. smile

That'd wear a guy out shaking that thing to make popcorn. laugh

I have that pan too, but mine is green and an odd brand, not lodge. Wife uses it for sourdough bread, and I roasted the chicken in it tonight.

How do you make your oyster stew?

Melt 2 sticks of butter, add the juice from the oysters, then add a quart of cream, salt, and pepper, bring to a simmer for awhile then add a quart of oysters and cook them for about 2 minutes, basically the oysters will be warmed through and make sure to not over cook the oysters, and serve.

Yes it’s tough doing popcorn but it works.

Same way as I do it. I do like a few soup (oyster) crackers to float in there.

I use those as well, it’s strange but regular saltines really don’t taste as good in oyster stew as the oyster crackers do. crazy

Yes sir. My parents sold that cookware 20+ years before I was born! That makes it at least 75 years old. They had it since then and passed to me when they passed years ago. I bet there's been hundreds of pounds of food through that thing and popcorn ain't that heavy. lol

nothing like a cast aluminum pot for making popcorn

I like Rural Route One popcorn , it is a local southern WI brand

I have an old National canner that the gauge went bad on and I no longer use as a pressure canner

it makes a great popcorn and stock pot
just has a cheap aluminum lid from an old turkey frier but it fits ok

I also have some Magna-lite pans

Just tried that popcorn. Thanks for the tip. It is indeed excellent. It'll be my go-to from now on.
