Speaking of boots, who makes good hiking boots?
Use a La Crosse knee high rubber boot for hunting and trapping.

Right now? Hoffman felt liner pac boots. I wear those 6-7 days a week about four months out of the year. Really wish I could find a pair of summer boots that holds up like them. Just got a new pair this year, last pair lasted me fifteen years with having the rubber lower replaced I think four times. Leather on the old pair was still good, but the rubber lower was shot again, and the stitching was all coming apart on the uppers, plus one of the brass eye inserts for the laces had worn to a sharp edge that repeatedly cut the bootlace on one boot. Figured it was as cheap or cheaper to buy a new pair as have the old was rebuilt with all the issues this time. Also, although these don't claim to be waterproof my feet stay dry in them regardless of conditions unless I go over the tops of them in water, or I have a hole through the rubber lowers. I will say the new pair I just got have a MUCH larger rubber lower, even though it is the same size (10) as my old ones, the arch support insoles that fit perfectly in the old ones have close to a half inch of space to rattle around in them, both side to side and front to back. And I can barely get my snowshoe bindings over them. interestingly enough they use the same liner as my old ones (usually always have two of them and rotate them daily to allow one to air out perspiration) and my foot doesn't seem to slop around in them, they feel like they fit snug.

Summer boots I go through lots, last couple pairs have been Schnees, got two years out of first pair and one year out of second, but unlike most boots my feet stayed dry in them for the year long warranty. Very comfortable also. Think I may try Meindl's next time

I use 2 pairs of Danner Vitals, alternating them on different outings. Very comfortable and long lasting.

Brunt Marins. Took me awhile to break them in as I go them last Winter. I should have bought them in the Summer when my feet were sweating to break them in faster. I like them they are holding up well and the soles are easy to clean if you are working just on pavement or indoors. Feet havent hurt wearing them so that is always a plus in my book. I have a pair of Justin lace up work boots that I wear for planting trees. Soles are heavier and can take being used to force a shovel into the ground.

Danner Pronghorn. 33 years land surveying required I find a good boot, and they really are good.

This is the type of boot I've worn everyday for many years, with steel or composite toes. Irish Setters are the best I've found.

Brunt. Tough work boot. Longest lasting boot I’ve used in a long time.

The danners are pretty good but I don't think I got more than a year and half out of them.

I worked on a new danner store several yrs ago and was given a heavy discount on work boots and a pair of archery boots .

They also gave me a pair of these for free . Colder fall hunting boot

If you're looking for a pull on type boot without laces I just got a pair of Red Wing Traction tred lite 02446 through work. they have a composite toe which we're required to have. I don't know what they'll be like as I haven't wore them yet. I have never had a pull on no laces type work book before. They've got a pretty thick sole, good trread, are waterproof and the big thing for me is they're light. I don't like a heavy shoe especially when you're wearing steel/composite toes.]

I usually just wear the tennis shoe type of safety shoe but I slipped off the steps of my truck a couple weeks ago and done the thump, thump, thump down to the ground when it was snowing. Thankfully I didn't get hurt other than some bruises. I'll give these a try hopefully they last and are comfortable.

They retail for about $250.
