Won’t see any arrive here until April. It always gets my attention when I hear the first one of the spring. Never even considered shooting one and eating it. What do they taste like?

Tastes like dove. Or at least that's what I remember when I was a kid. Been a long time since Dad caught me with a pile of them and made me cook them.

They were in the back yard on the snow yesterday. Daughter asked me to be sure she was seeing what she thought she was. I dont think they ever left this year.

My Wife's grandfather said they were good. So being 16 or 17 at the time I tried them( back when we were dating). Robbins Breast were not as large or filed out as dove. Didn't think they were very good but that was probably just me not knowing what I was doing over cooking them.

Old timey belief up here that once the robins come back, we are due for one more snowfall. Haven't seen one yet this year. Probably another month or two.

I always heard it was 3 snows on a robins tail. It's just a saying though like countless others. Did the furry rodent see his shadow today?

Now Dave....are you really gonna fry up my little tweetie birds ? cry

You know I think the world of you. I also love robins and others who have , to me, such pleasant songs in spring....

It's just the soft-hearted musician affinity for singing manifesting , from me wink

Send em my way, Dave. I'll take 'em . It's still too cold and snowy yet for them here.

They are considered a migratory bird so they are protected in Pa. unless you have a special permit. I believe all states protect migratory birds unless they are regulated in the state with seasons and bag limits. Be careful Dave.

Not legal here in Georgia......they're protected here like all migratory songbirds.

But, Texas or Texans may be different.
