Lake Mead and Lake Powell on the Colorado River are both below 30% capacity
California has been dry for years. Or flooded. I think theres too many people rather than a lack of water
I wonder how many golf courses are getting plenty of water?

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Agree with you. Look at all the growth along the Colorado, unsustainable. Pumping aquifers out to grow subsidized row crops is nuts, encouraging growth in areas with no water is moronic.

Most years, the Colorado River doesn't even reach the ocean any more. It just dries up in the desert. Disgusting.

(Edited to add....most of it goes to agriculture, not people).

People often don't want to live in places where the best resources are. They may well regret that at some time in the near future.

Remember the old Sam Kinnison Ethiopian bit. To paraphrase him, he said to the Ethiopians "We have deserts in America, we just don't live in them stupid." Now many Americans do live in deserts.

There is ag land sitting idle in AZ because of no water to irrigate.
Tucson is in the desert. My cousin died in the desert last summer. Very experienced hiker but was alone so nobody really knows what happened.

Hunted south of Wilcox and saw what happens to farms that use up the easily available water.

Isn't agriculture for people?

The human body is 60% water. Higher population means more water is walking around and not available. At some point, the amount of available water can no longer sustain the population.

Desert populations are exploding as well as semi desert. S.CA. AZ NM CO already have more people than water. Pumping it out of aquafers faster than they are filling.

Water gets split into oxygen and hydrogen pretty often, though some does get reassembled too.

What's worse?... Pump water in a pipeline to the west, or have the west move here to the east?

Always wondered if pumping the Mississippi during spring floods would help alleviate the problems of both ends of the country.

Yep they run the water reserves dry BUT have made it state policy to not build anymore retention aquifers that could be filled in the flood years. Instead state policy there is to mandate ordinary residents conserve water

They need to build desalination plants like they have in Israel. Israel came up with a better technology, but won't share it with us. I think our aid should have strings attached, including rights to copy the desalination designs. It would make a huge difference for the dry parts of our coasts.

That does seem mighty one sided of Israel considering the help we've given them....One things for sure, this is only going to get progressively worse over time.
