Peg has been sewing new zippers into some coats I’ve had in the closet.. replacement zippers didn’t work because the teeth were messed up.. I absolutely flipped when I saw the price for a new coat… and those aren’t even the good heavy ones.
She’s always sewing up my clothes , especially my jeans, She’s learned how to overcome loosing sight in one of her eyes… I’ve posted awhile back, pics of the raccoon blanket she made. Next project is either a coyote blanket or a jacket… Not many girls know how to operate a sewing machine or a stove anymore. Guess I lucked out.
Stand by your principles, Stand by your guns, and victory complete and permanent is sure at last. Abraham Lincoln

My wife can sew not that likes to it’s a “do I have to thing” like cooking anymore now, but she’s good at it. Only happens a few times a year.

She will do repair work for her and me if I ask her. I generally do my own sewing just like last evening I had a seam open up on a coat. I repaired t myself and generally do. No making of new clothes does my wife do or I.
Give me a fish, I will eat for a day. Teach me to fish, I will eat for a lifetime

I can sew pretty good myself. You want some great thread, use artificial sinew.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

my wife sewed a lot also knit a lot
being I have a big head all my favorite knit hats are ones she made for me so that they didn't ride up like the store bought ones do
she repaired all sorts of things
I already took good care of those hats knowing , they fit , they were warm , they probably have 30 dollars in wool in them , and now I got no one to make any more. so I make darn sure to take care of them and not leave them any where.
a little repair sewing I can do , a patch , button.
my youngest sews if I need something beyond that.
all the kids can sew a little but K did a lot of it.
my mom and aunt sew as well , they help finish up some of the quilts my wife had going for the kids
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

My wife is a good seamstress. She often alters her own clothing. Has helped a few neighbors.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

I've come to learn that "quilters" are a very strange bunch. Most of 'em spend countless hours designing, sewing, then quilting the quilt. Then . . they give 'em away. She sells a few, but most of 'em are gifted.
If you know about "longarms" . . (all of this was new to me when we met 25+ years ago) . . . they aren't cheap. She happened on this one when it was posted on Facebook Marketplace don't recall how many years ago. The gal that had it wanted a bigger one. So she sold this one very, very reasonably. Only hitch was we had to come to northern Illinois and take it apart, load it in the truck, then reassemble here. Fortunately Susan is gifted with mechanical ability in that department.
Again, very lucky guy.

As I posted, my wife can sew well. But my aunt, she’s a pro. Literally. She worked in a sewing factory making coats for 25 years. The noise of 100 sewing machines took about all her hearing. The factory closed, and she bought the commercial machine she had used all those years. She’s 82 now, but she can still sew better than anyone I know. And I bet she enjoys it. Susan worked at Lands End for many years.

Muskrat, my mom is a very, very avid quilter. And I agree with you 100%. Countless hours of labor typically gifted away. And more material than she could use in two lifetimes. For sure on the material stashed. There are times when I catch myself almost say . . . " do you really . . ." . . . but we have a deal . . . she doesn't ask about what's out in the garage or in the basement workshop, and I don't ask about what's in the next box on the porch.

I have that deal with my wife. She's a knitter, spinner, weaver and crocheter. Yarn and fiber everywhere.
