I use both. If I'm talking with non trapping folks, usually coy-o-tee and with sportsmen usually yote or coy-oat

I've just always assumed that anyone who pronounced the "e" on the end of coyote was a city boy or at least a tender foot from back east.

I learned it as ki-o-tee but we had none where I grew up until the early 80s, they were a foreign critter. I've since dropped the tee part, ki-yote.

No matter how someone says it, all I want to hear is how'd you kill it.
I like to say it "kyoat", especially around people who have to ask me, "What did you say?", so that I know exactly who I'm dealing with.
