Nice haul!....Been finding some good sheds here too....You have to beat the rodents, and bonafide shed hunters to them.

that is definitely a good day and hopefully you didnt get a tine in your side by side tire
Almost ran over one of 'em, but seen it in time. It was edge of a 5 acre food plot. The spike antler was laying in a logging road. I ran over it yesterday and did'nt see it. And the other was just off the logging road...I saw the tines sticking up above the pine straw.....sun shining on it.

Singed otter and green bellied bobcats due to too much sunlight and flat tires for goat's losing their horns, yes a wonderful day, lol.
Bumper crop of bobcats around here this year, see tracks and sign of them all over, even in town. 2 ran over in the road and i probably only seen 3 ran over in a road my whole life.

Should come down and ride along. Have traps on about 1000 acres...400 acres of my place and 700 acres of the neighbors......half dozen 330s in a spring fed creek and about 40 coyote-cat locations. But, I think I've bounced the coyotes outta here. Have caught 3 past week and sign is non-existent now. Still a couple cats here and there. Neighbor asked if I'd catch some beavers outta a cottonmouth quagmire. Gonna set a few footholds tommorrow to make him happy. This neighbor is also my orthopedic doctor that has done surgery on my hands and my left knee....lol

I seen it happen a few times over the years. They'll filter back onto the property after a few weeks.
Im the type trapper that sets a property very heavy.....most every logging road intersection gets a set or 2. Every food plot or other opening gets a set. In ag country...I set every point of woods that jut out into the field, every farm gate, roads between fields, etc.
I likely cause the problem, but its the way I've always set up properties. Most times it doesn't seen to happen. Other times...it'd very obvious it did.
Slim Pederson wrote about this in one of his books......he called the coyote's reaction "bouncing."
They shift to the another part of their home range to avoid the "commotion".
Also, I've never liked for caught coyotes to start barking when I walk up to them. Many times I've said.."HUSH"..YOU'RE GONNA TELL 'EM ALL YOUR STRESSING!

You don't want me coming down, im on about day 3 of this flu epidemic going around, haven't had full blown flu in probably 30 years or more. Had Slim calling about coyotes not filling back in on property's the next year not long after he got moved to Ga. id only seen that happen once at the time. I imagine it's still breeding season right now or does that start earlier that far down? They don't seem to stay put very long anywhere when that's going on.

We should be a few weeks after peak coyote breeding right now. Didn't see any fresh coyote sign this morning. Caught 1 possum and another otter. These coyotes are simply not on this stretch along the Alapaha River. I had that dang flu the 1st two weeks of January. Only 2nd time in my life that I had that...I can recall. I didn’t wander far from the bed or the couch for 14 days. Hope you get over that crap quickly.

Well....picked up the neighbor and his kid so they could ride with me to check his place....after I dispatched the coyote earlier on my place. Snagged 2 boar coons. And the neighbor learned that beavers can be captured in his cottonmouth haven. Set four 750s in trays at two small dam breaches about 20ft apart. Two 750s in each tray on 9' rods. Doubled at a double. That don't happen every day. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/02/full-11603-284749-1000003829.jpg)

wtg, show us your beaver set up, pic, please 750s in a tray at small breach. Water is very clear. Tray is about 6 inches deep. Caught a small beaver here this morning. That's 5 in 2 nights. Might be all of this colony. This clear pool is at the head of this quagmire of swampy wetlands. There are at least 2 more dams out in this spring-fed swamp....each likely has it's own colony. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/02/full-11603-284925-1000003836.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/02/full-11603-284927-1000003837.jpg) Water is down about 18" from start. Trays are not in optimum position, but shelf drop-off is too steep now to position them further. Step out where the trays are and you will sink thigh deep in mud. I could dig out mud to channel better, but no need as it's about done here. I re-adjusted them this morning, but shelf angle is not as good as initial setup. It'll still catch beaver, but not as efficiently.
