I do have a leg-up from most wine drinkers because my granddaughter is an Advanced Sommelier whom has worked for Abercrombie & Fitch wine auctions. She値l be coming back from Germany next month to take her Master Sommelier test. Whenever she comes to visit us for a few days we値l go down to my local whiskey & wine shop and she gives old grandpa a lesson on what to buy and why. Not all wines are expensive, we like many $20 New Zealand white wines, many reds from Australia in the same price range. One other red comes to mind, Tres Picos as an example, a Granacha is a $20 wine and goes great with about all red meat.

I'm not really a wine guy, but I occasionally drop $25 for a blueberry wine that my wife likes. I would give good money for a bottle of Mr Dobbins' Skeeter Pee. I had a small sample last summer, and it was really good.

Speaking of wine, I've got 5 gallons of blood orange, cranberry, peach and cherry ready for the convention season. I still have to make some Skeeter Pee and some Pomegranate.

Dont drink wine often, but really enjoy Oliver Winery Camelot Mead.....probably nowhere near as good as a homemade honey wine.

Depends on what I知 buying and why or when.
$15 to $20 is normal but I do love a good true imported Port and I値l go up on those of course.
Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Last year I put 3 bottles on the auction at the FTA, and those three bottles brought $1,150.00. I'm planning on bringing 3 more this year.

I don't mind dropping $3-4 dollars on a nice box of wine just to impress the ladies.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I remember once the comic strip "Crock" had one of the legionnaires say he had spent 50 cents on a gallon of wine..."because you have to pay more for the good stuff".

Back in the 70痴, maybe early 80痴, I lived in a town that I was fortunate to enroll in a few weeks long wine tasting class/seminar that culminated in all the Bordeaux First Growth wines. Crazy what some of the better Bordeaux wines costs now. So my daily drinker now is about $15 or so per bottle.
