Trying to get a photo loaded that my daughter got. Had two mature bald eagles feeding on a grinner I dispatched a couple days ago. That was only about 30 yards past my back yard in our field. Eagles have fed off my deer gut piles over the years. But this was close to the house! [quote=charles]Why do they nest so early, I wonder.[/quote
Probably so their young of the year are old enough to feed on other animals young of the year.
Providing wild fur to the industry at below the cost of production for over 50 years.
Mostly carbon neutral since 1948.

When the geese are making their way through north and south the eagles follow the flocks they must be immune to the flu dozen at times on the lake sometimes less sometimes more.

I hope to see the picture.
A few days ago there was a baldy and a porcupine at the very top of a huge cottonwood tree. The baldy was no more then 8 feet away from the porky sitting there watching it. I tried to get closer to get a picture but it flew off. A little while later I looked back up there with binos and the eagle was back staring right at that porky again. It would have been a great picture.

In some areas here the swans stay where there is a little open water, they shouldn't. The eagles really have their way with them on the ice.

Seen them pounce on some of the sick geese in the past it’s not a pretty site to watch I thought they would be more efficient at dispatching a goose but the sick ones don’t fight as much probably.

Lots of them hang out around the lambing grounds here in the valley. I've seen as many as 12 in one big cottonwood.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Got a lot of them here along the river, especially with duck and goose migration picking up. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
