Don't know if I am tough enough to have been a rocky mountain trapper in the early 1800's. Coldest I have ever felt, was when I made the mistake of using an air mattress right on top of snow. It was during a late season fall/winter turkey hunt. I don't think I ever got warm that weekend. Air temp wasn't that cold, maybe in the 20s, but right on that snow was not the best idea. They were tougher men for sure.

Moosetrot trapper M Joined: Jan 2007 Wisconsin	I used to Winter camo quite a bit, back when I was 8 ft. tall and bulletproof. Coldest I have ever been out was in 1976 in northern Wisconsin. Snow was very deep so I dug down along a big pine log. I knew it was cold when I tried rolling out my ensolite pad and it just broke into pieces. Arranged them as best I could underneath me and waited for morning. Moosetrot
