If the house is part of the total asset picture that will need to be part of the settlement, it would suprise me if it were not appraised and thus could creat a change in value and RE tax.

Just a heads up about Quit Claim Deeds. I did a lot of work with realtors, banks, appraisers, and insurance companies in my construction career, and Quit Claims can indeed be used to either transfer ownership of a house or real property, or well as remove a willing partner from a deed. However, and this is important: If you are both on a mortgage, and in this case her income was included to qualify for it, the bank will need to originate a new mortgage or alter that mortgage, as THEY are technically the lien holder. That is why until that mortgage is paid in full, you don't hold the title.

An appraisal will not make your taxes go up, the County assessor will never see that appraisal, it's the County Assessor's appraisal that makes your taxes go up.

Any values assigned to the two parties of a divorce are not an "arms length" transactions, and should not have any bearing on your assessed value.
