Which anchor is best for sandy areas? I’m getting off the cable and will only be using chain for my anchors. I do trap some areas that are really sandy. And the wold fangs are flat, to which I suppose would be better. I would prefer super stakes because they don’t bend and are good season after season without needing any work in offseason. But just a bit concerned anchoring them in sand

When I was in NV, had alot of sand. Only used wolf fangs with 18" cable.
Couple of times had to make it 28" cable as they wouldn't hold. Usually got 2 seasons out of them before they would bend too much from extraction unless I hit a rock.

Ya can't miss fur if yur traps are out somewhere.
Or so I've been told.

Lots of clay under a few inches of topsoil here

I have had good luck with wolf fang type anchors on cable.
I attach about 6" of chain to the trap end of the cable when I make them.
I fold a bunch in half pulling them up, those get tossed in a pile and when I have a little time they get some time on a piece of RR track and a massage with a hammer to get them back in shape.

Second use I attach to cable (I will replace cable if I even think 1 strand is broken) directly (leave chain off if new cable) and the cable gets cut and anchor left in ground.
I do not trust them after being bent up twice

If I wanted to reuse anchor with less headache I would be using chained super stakes
I have a doz regular ones but any future purchases will be the ones with retrieval gizmo on them

My vote would be 16" #3 chain super stakes, it is all I use.

I have used wolf fangs with good luck most of our soil is sandy. Added 18" of cable on mine.

Super stakes on #3 good chain if retrieving.

Fangs on 3/32" 7x7 cable if your cuttin' & runnin'.

Both hold well at 16" in the sugar sand down here.

The last time I used super stakes was 4 years ago in clay during a drought. It took me literally all day to pull 4dz traps. I ended up breaking off 12 or 15 on #3 premium chain and destroying my puller. I promised myself never again and ment it!

I run wolf fangs on 13 inch’s of 3/32 7x7 cable and cut and go. Life is a lot better now!

Wolf fangs hold great in sandy soil. Usually drive them in about 15 inches.
