Any of you folks use a Bobcat Ruler for putting up Bobcat?
I learned a lot from this video-

No, I just use a tape measure, guess I'm old school. lol

Some of my stretchers have the sizes written on them with a marker also.

A few years back Michael Pappas told me to go a minimum of 7 1/2 inches wide on the small cats. Eric has the 28's at 5'', 32's at 6'' and the 36's at 7''. Not arguing with a top buyer for Pappas here, but wondering if things have changed that much. Think I will still look at the smaller cats and let them tell me what they individually needs to be.

Not sure if it matters but does the ruler equally apply to Eastern bobcat.

You want 36" if you can get it, a narrow 36" is better than a wider 35", after 36" you gain more with width than you do with length. And if you are doing a small cat that won't hit 36", you absolutely want to hit 32" if possible. Eric said several years ago, a 32" cat you can make a sleeve out of, if it is under 32" it is relegated to trim.

Yeah, I go by the cat myself. Try it hit 36", only a very few of mine won't make 36", after that, width is the bonus. I do them as wide as they want to go, without losing length. Out to about 9 1/4". I don't generally stretch cats wider than that. They don't look right, and they don't have a belly wider than that anyways. But I had one about fifteen years ago that I always wished I would have weighed. I made a new board to fit that cat on, 56" long and 10" wide.
