Yep everyone wants the big sizes. My bigger ones did ok but smaller sizes still not good.

And only a little over 13,000 coon on the sale. That is a mighty small offering.
Sure would like to see a market for our coon before I get too old to get after em lol.

Yeah, that would be nice.

I hope there's some water in the river next fall for maybe a mink line. I think the last mink I sold at FHA were a couple of $3 fall females. No slough water here nowadays for any real mrat numbers. That's probably a good think but I can most likely still walk around in some good waders...

Groeny got this market cornered. Likely is content moving them “on sale”. The competition is too strong to move the needle on coon IMO.

Coon prices in the country have been inching up a little as of late, but you are right about Groney's influence.

Problem with the coon market is if it did go up ya'll would have it flooded out in one sale! Need the demand for them to be huge like back in the early 80's.

Agree.
I know of more coon being stored in a few trappers freezers than were on that auction.
Besides that, them Iowa boys will trap coon when they gotta pay someone to take them lol.

problem with coon is like said earlier the market gets flooded too fast once their is a price increase for example i use to take 200-300 hundred coon in a two week span hunting them at night and im sure i could do that again no problem i know of so many coon hound guys that havent shipped in years because they would rather just tree coon than drag a hide out the bush for zero profit even in my trapper council nobody really targets coon its more accidental catches in other sets that guys ship

Groenewold is not buying enough coon to "corner" that market.

There just is no coon market.

LOL It does appear to be a way of life in Iowa. Coon is the one item that could be overproduced in one season pretty easily.

It will be interesting to see if Ranch Mink move up considerably at SAGA next week. I mean they sold wild mink (not millions) for almost what ranch were selling for last year.

Coyotes sold as expected, Lynx seemed to sell for a great average, moved the ranch mink and on to there bobcat holdings.

Anyone with northern fur is a happy camper! Us coon, muskrat, beaver trappers are hoping the rising market finds us next year! Not going to be a mink trap in the barn come next fall.

I hope bobcat prices hold up for June like this sale. I looked at how some lots did that would be similar to what I withdrew at Glenns Ferry and they were from $300-$600

I see even light B-C belly southern cats going for around $300. I would think this will get some new FHA shippers from the south.

That is a lot that is not on the sale. Usually pelts that have been selected for other purposes - display at conventions, grading contests, etc. you will be paid the same price as the catalog lot.

Peeler i was shocked at the Ms. sale with the 102.00 average but now i see why they were paying that for basically 'junk' cats.

I just don't know who is buying that stuff or what in the world they are planning on doing with it?
