Yep......southern fur is the first to drop in price and the last to rise in price. Always been that way.

Running your fingers thru a pelt from the upper 3rd of North America and its easy to see why.

But, hey...these southern beavers have thicker leather and never completely lose their underfur during summer....lol

Brian McMillan used to say, “you’re only as good as your last sale.”

We are not there yet and this was long overdue.

How about them lynx cats today? Westerns averaged more than double what they did in March of '25. Central cats tripled their Avg of a year ago. In fact, the high western cat for 2025 sold for slightly less than what the average was today for that category $1550 vs $1557. Same story with Centrals...at around $330

I can hardly sit down I'm so excited about my cats for June. Sure glad the cat buyers overlooked them at Glenn's Ferry. They could of had them for $175!

Goodness!

I don't recall a Central bobcat average sale price of $320+ at an international auction in my lifetime.

Pretty good price for stale goods. It was obvious by the cat prices being paid in the country that the cats would sell higher. There are private orders pushing the market higher. There were a lot of 8 cats sold for $4100 each. As we can see by this that the buyers in the country who paid $3000 for them were only doing it for their ego.

I was listening when they got to the Centrals and expected prices to drop down to the low $100 and something, when they worked it up to around $300 for the hammer I was stunned...lot after lot. Went back to the catalog to see the grades. Didn't make no sense! That finally gives southern trappers something to look forward to next year.

Who knows, maybe even Savell will try to recall how to put up a cat.

Didn't there used to be a Northern section for bobcats? Did that section go away or just too few for this sale? If so I wonder where those cats would end up.

He's probably pulling them cats out of the freezer as we speak. Good for all cat trappers. Never caught one in parts yet after fifty years of trapping

They can sell stuff for quick cash this coming Friday in the back of the Subway restaurant, I’ll wait until early April and send an even better bag of fur than what I had this go round. (Shoulda sent more)

Cheryl there at FH is great too. She answers emails same day even though I imagine she’s opening hundreds.

X2 I’ll not be telling many people in my area either about the results of this mink and fisher sale.

I remember the last few sales where folks were upset because they wouldn’t sell for a lower value. Now they’re not so mad. Their job is to try and get the best value for your fur.

Haha, classic! Let them do their own market research. They’ll be hitting the bush waaaaaaay too late…..lol

There were not enough fresh cats to warrant the paperwork involved to get them across the border. The June offering should be nearly all fresh cats.

Nobody has posted the results yet, did they claim 100% clearance on Central cats?

Looks like there's room for improvement on the coyotes.

WissMiss posted that all fresh bobcats were held until their next sale in June.

The cats on this sale were supposedly all holdovers from previous sales.

Yes, disappointed in coyotes and not impressed with their beaver or otter prices. Mink and ermine went unexpectedly high though.

A lot of people don't realize, but usually on the March sale (I don't know about this year) a large percentage of those cats are dealer lots, put on there by dealers who can put a minimum on their lots just like trappers can at local auctions. This is one reason a lot of times FHA doesn't sell at what seems decent prices to the trappers watching, it isn't FHA per se deciding not to sell, the price didn't hit the dealers minimum. So the fact that practically all of them sold (at least according to FHAs reports) is a good sign.

The June report for 2025 shows that of 8049 cats they sold 65%. The unsold goods from that sale would account for most of what was on this sale.

And last year there was a Northern section. Not this time...they either went into Canadian or Central. In the catalog there was a Southern section though.
