I've never used them, but have seen traps set up that way so assumed that was what he was talking about. Probably would work better to hold coons than a regular offset. Some states require an offset, so that may be his reason. Old time trappers using sharp jawed traps first went to offsets to avoid cutting ligaments. Nowadays with most traps either not having sharp jaws or trappers knowing to file sharp edges, that is not such an issue.

MB has the half offset 450 in their site now and I think somebody was modifying the Duke 450s and selling them the same way. I'm just wondering what good it does to use a tiny offset like that.

I really have always liked the 1.65 with #2 music wire springs especially if the target is fox and coon. With that said mb is the Cadillac of traps but you can almost run 2 to one between them. Do you want 50 Cadillac sets or 100 good Ford sets. I'll take the more sets. That all said I'm retired now kids grown and I can afford 100 Cadillac sets 😆
