Along the lines of using all of the animal, would it be beneficial to use the brains from the all the mix & match animals that are trapped? Thinking of just scooping & freezing till I get a bucket full than maybe rotting down to a soupy consistency for a "pourable" bait.
I would also use brains from big game that I harvest.
Just wondering if mixing the different animals together.
Not sure of what else to add to it or just leave brains only.

Or would it be extra time & effort not productive in the long run.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Brains are great. I would guess that brains are brains no matter what animal they come from but I've never did comparative testing to see if there is a difference. I wouldn't rot them down myself. Preserve fresh is my preference. They make a great base for a lure or bait. Very attractive from a food stand point, not an over powering odot, great texture and being mostly a form of cholesterol (regular fat doesn't even compare to them) they hold up to weather well. Last time I bought brains I bought a 120 pounds.

Thank you Sir.
Now I'm thinking I'll just scoop, cut to size (ish) & freeze.
Thinking maybe bout 2 inch pieces except the smaller ones.
Would SB work for preserving or should I just freeze & pull out what I need that day i check/set traps?

I use SB and MP to preserve but freezing would work to if just want to use it as is.

Brains are awesome in a bait. They give it such great texture and consistency. Ever wonder why canines are attracted to bones and skulls? Its the brain or marrow smell in the bones.
I prefer to use brains lightly tainted because they go from just tainted to "curl your nose hairs" real fast.
The old government trappers mixed brains and beaver castor to make a getter bait and I can vouch for the fact that canines will dig to China to get it.

I preserved some brains fresh with SB &MP like Yes sir mentioned. I kept them in a refrigerator while preserving to keep them fresh.

I use pig brains in a couple of my lures. For a while I couldn't find a source, but I did finally. I was getting low on them.
