I have not purchased in sometime, but I remember better pricing. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2026/04/full-31-290073-img_0473.jpeg) Most of this comes from Canada. Now take a guess why prices of Canadian products are so high now. Go ahead, take a guess. And thank the frontotemporal dementia patient clown in the White House. You do realize that teriffs were in place before trump, right?

Y'all made me curious so I had to check what it was here now. It's definitely gone up since last fall, surely due to tariffs. It's doubled in price! But, still not so bad as Vinke's. There's almost 25% lest peat in that bag than the one in Vinke's pic. If it was the same amount it would cost about $28.00, still cheaper. I've tried other brands and had issues with moisture and twigs/debris in it. The Premier brand can usually be used right out of the bag, no drying or sifting necessary. I do still dry it in the summer though. But if I run low towards the end of the season I can get another bag and use as is.
Eh...wot?

The OP was astonished at the higher peat moss price. I think it’s logical to discuss reasons for this. It certainly appears that decisions made by our current political party in charge has had a direct effect on peat moss prices. 1) I would say "I remember better pricing" expresses astonishment...... 2) I think it's also logical to discuss reasons for this. 3) I agree with your assessment of the reasons for it. 4) I think you should be able to logically discuss the reasons for it without resorting to comments like: And thank the frontotemporal dementia patient clown in the White House. since the owner of the site has said he will not tolerate bashing of the current president. Wouldn't you agree???

Near as I can tell there are no tarriffs on peat moss so what are you talking about?

Our local Lowes has that same 3 cu.ft. bag for $19.98. Bob, I noticed that the Premier brand peat moss now comes in a 3 ft.³ bag. It only used to be available in 2.2 ft.³ or 3.8 ft.³ like the one in Vinke’s picture. A 3 ft.³ bag is $27.98 at my local Lowe’s.
Eh...wot?

Rat Masterson, tariffs or not, I would expect any products exported from Canada to use any and all reasons to raise prices simply out of spite for what we’ve done to them.
Yote, yes I would agree. His site, his rules. If you don’t like it, don’t comment. It’s just amusing to me that now that the “shoe is on the other foot” politically, some refuse to acknowledge that the exact topics they were bashing our last administration for (food, gas, commodities, interest rates, peat moss prices) are as bad or worse now. Maybe we need a third party?
