You make a good point there! But while she is babysitting the chickens and bunnies, maybe he can go solo and be Captain then.

that boat has seen some rough use
probably why he didn't want you to give him too much for it
you might start with just putting a bow mount trolling motor and a couple of batteries in it

probably pull it together and brace up where that seat is loose from the side , seats give boats like that much of their strenght or the sides bow out and flex

my boat has fairly wide benches I run these as seats because they are cheap and comfortable but easy to get out of the way when I want to stand on the bench as a casting platform.

also I set my boat up so I take everything out of it and turn it upside down on the trailer for the winter so the snow doesn't pile up in it.

Someone worked that thing over pretty good...but hey ,as long as it floats...and yes those benches hold the boat together, so fix that...otherwise, just go have fun...and bring a bailing scoop. lol

My wife and I fixed a 14' john boat that was beat to death and had missing rivets and leaked badly. Osky I think told how to use solid rivets and backing washers where needed. I had to use a few bigger diameter for some bigger streched out holes. But with the air chisel with the rounded tip for the rivet head and the wife holding a sledge hammer against the inside of the rivet it worked well. I did put some marine epoxy on the rivet before I tightened them up. Wear ear protection because it is loud. Put the boat on saw horses and put water in it with a hose and see where the leaks are and mark them with a marker, then do it again after the fix to make sure you got them all.

Looks like a Lowe boat to me. I would get rid of everything that’s not stock and run it as is. Most of those repairs are above the water line. You can add what you think you need after taking her out for a few trips.
