Friend of mine had one of those in the 90s for his first truck. Third gear went out at about 450K and with that little motor you had to wind it pretty tight to make the jump from 2nd to 4th. He drove that way for a couple years, then finally gave it to his older sister that needed a commuter. She had the tranny rebuilt and drove it for years, haven't heard from her in fifteen years, but for all I know she is still driving it.

My first was an 88 Toyota 4x4, candy apple red. Only truck I've ever owned that I waxed and shined up, except for ones I did when getting ready to sell them. I've owned a couple regular cab Toyotas, including an 83 just out of high school. I remember heading to a party with four girls in the bench seat of that 83, and me driving. Shifting gears in that little cab was a team effort.
