Hi I’m new to putting up fur and have done about 16 beaver this spring so far and started taking them off the boards what’s the best way to store them for about 3-4 weeks before they go to the fur buyer. Thanks

Stack them up fur to fur, leather to leather and put a piece of plywood on top to keep them flat. Keep them in the same room as you dried them in. As long as you don't have a rodent problem in your fur drying room. 3-4 weeks you shouldn't have a problem. I like to keep a fan blowing on low, aimed at the stack, this will discourage any flying insect life. Inspect them at least once a week.
Good to you for putting up your fur. Beaver is paying well this year.

Turtledale, do you comb & brush pelts before you stack 'em?

Yes I do Hern, then before I take them to auction i do a quick brush and shake again. Concentrating on "fluffing"
up the edge of the pelt.
I also size them from largest on the bottom to smallest on top in pairs

I like to go over that fur with a greasy rag before I sell. It sure gives that fur a nice shine.
I have a defunct chest freezer that I store dried fur in. And I also have a section of plywood placed on top of the hides to keep them from curling up. A cement block on top helps with added weight and will give you more room as you add to the pile.
