I got a phone call today that informed me the neighbors were about to have their road wash away. The boys and I cleared the dam from the culvert and got water flowing again. Just about froze my feet off, but we got three sets in. Wasn't very fun trying to drive a stake. Hopefully the problem will be solved in a couple days.
Anybody else chasing beavers?

Yes have been in southern MN for the past two weeks and pulled my line yesterday ended up with 36, waiting for things to open up in northeast Mn and going to trap there for a week probably wait until the last week of the season.

I just got back and I am hoping to get some sets in yet this week. The lakes are still mostly sealed up here so I don't know how much movement there will be.

I have nothing clever to put here.

My son and grandsons are trying our hand at beaver trapping. We have been getting educated, but got a nice one this morning. 1st beaver we’ve ever caught. We are having fun and learning lots. Big Sam has been very helpful. His boys made and sent some to my grandson. The beaver butt scent did the trick.

I caught my first beaver on a drag this year. Quick and easy in and out set if you got the right spot

We have been for about week. They are moving every night now in central MN.
Mainly trapping a small river and a few feeder creeks. Unfortunately have a couple issues
With trap thieves. First time in several years. Majority of our sets are on private property
Two more checks for the full line, 10 locations, then stick close to home. We truly enjoy spring
Beaver trapping.

Beavers on drags?? Do you prehook the drag or something? I would think if it got it into the water it could just pack off trap and drag?

Gotta find a way, a better way, I'd better wait

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you

I'm glad that the lure worked for you. I do believe that you guys are the first outside of our family to make a catch with that lure

Did some looking today in moving water and found some sign so maybe set the end of the week. Ponds are starting to clear but bigger water is still pretty tight yet. Been following a husband and wife out of Remer and they are piling them up but they are in the river getting a jump start on them.

I’m trapping travelers in southern MN right now. It’s been slow but steady. The storms have helped.

It's in the water, Steve. I reached for a dls, and the boys threw a fit. Lol.
Now that I think about it, that's a pretty valuable piece of steel to leave out there.

Picked up one in the TS 85. Old Emmett happened to be awake so he got to check before work.

I decided not to chase them this year but thought I would put a couple floats in front of my house to see what happens and have caught 6 so far. As long as they come to my place, they are game this spring..

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

The boys picked up another one at the culvert this morning. We're hoping to get a few more sets out today.

Catching 6 is pretty dang good for not trying. I need to play with floats eventually, they sure seems like a handy tool.

I even set nine traps today. Might have lost my mind lol. Too cold to fish.

Sounds good Steve, they'll be excited about a gopher trap.
We put out five more traps today. They're looking forward to checking in the morning.

Don't forget the ice chisel. I am going to wait a couple of days and let it warm up a little. I had 19 degrees here this morning.

Me and my assistants have been chasing and catching a few! Ponds finally opened up and we got a little rain and they’re moving good, though the water is still way low in many areas such that ya can’t even run a drowner. Sold my first batch to Matt Carlson yesterday and gave each of the assistants $10 for their picture taking help and for their work shaving the bark on the eye candy sticks!

Seen a few other trappers sets and finally met one nice new fella yesterday! Hoping to give it though at least next weekend depending on things and stuff! Happy trapping! ScottW

Partner and I are chasing them where we find open water. Meeting Dusty in Baxter tonight. With a decent run today I might need the dually for the trip.
