I've had five surgeries, including two total replacements, on my left knee. I had an infection.

I had meniscus repair and arthritis removed in both of my knees. They no longer lock up like they used to but they definitely are not even close to 100%. It’s painful to kneel down and difficult to get up. The doctor said removing the arthritis is like mowing the grass. It’s going to grow back.

I did each knee separately and had surgeries on Thursday and was back to office job on Monday. I did not take any of the prescribed pain meds but I followed exactly what my physical therapist said to do.

I had arthroscopic surgery on my hip that was unbelievably painful. They put my foot in a boot and basically put a pipe between my legs and used something like a boat winch to separate my hip socket. After they ground down the bone, they put the joint back in place. I awoke to the most pain I’ve ever experienced in my life. I was on painkillers for an extended period of time. I started with a walker until I could use crutches. I didn’t get off crutches for three months. That surgery was a disaster. My hip still feels the same as before the surgery.

Sounds like you should have had a complete hip replacement instead of arthroscopic surgery. My wife had a hip replacement done. She used walker the first day, a cane the following several days, and nothing after that. She took over the counter pain pills. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Wife told me to put on clean socks every day. I tried, but after 7 days, I could hardly get my shoes on.
