It was a urn in a trailer I was demolishing

I would say it’s fair game. When the urn containing ashes becomes dust covered or left behind, there aren’t directions in the book of life, for that.

there is probably a metal tag in the urn

that should be able to identify who it is , if it is from your state.

Like stated, should be a metal tag with a number that can be traced to ID remains

Contact family and see if they want them. You never know if some of the surviving family members might just not know that their loved ones remains are floating around.

Otherwise be respectful in your decision on where to leave them.

Nah, I'd name it and take it around like Swearington did with his Indian head in the box, on Deadwood..

Drop Bob off at a cemetery, or release him in a nice spot...make sure there's no occult symbols on the urn...Bob might need to stay in there for everyones safety...

I wouldn't have recognized it for what it is. All my family has been put in a box and planted.

Sadly that is what has become what many think of their loved ones. Sad state of affairs all the way around.

I have a brother in law who's father had died, he was cremated and stored in a neighbors garage as the bil didn't live near the father anymore, he never offered to pick him up or even have him mailed to him...then the neighbor died. I don't think he ever picked the old man up, but all the while commenting how his parents were great and how much he admired them.. Geeze, do the right thing ...never liked the BIL, but I have no use for him at all anymore...

We have a 9 seater family plot....then they changed the rules, allowing I think, 3-1 cremations per burial....When my brother died, he was cremated and put in a cardboard box, We went with my ex SIL for his "burial"

Guy comes out with a post hole digger, dug a short hole and in he went....done....
They did have a small family service some time later....

It seems odd it is not already buried.
This might not have been the persons last wish,,,, or maybe “they” did not want have one.
The trailer that I found it in was used by the last owner for storage.
He died. A clean out company was hired to remediate the property. I was hired to remove and store the vehicles.
The clean out company did not disclose the urn. I never looked in the trailer.
