Longview TX (about 30mi from me) has "The Green Street Monster" that has claimed many a truck

IMO if you are too uninformed to know the load height of your vehicle, you don't need a commercial license

As far as blaming the loader, negative.
DRIVER is responsible for knowing the height and weight of vehicle.
If there is uncertainty, get your lazy (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) a tape and figure it out before you get on the road

Anybody that has ever drove a truck for any length of time has came on a low bridge, had to stop and back up with angry people in cars doing everything but getting out of the way. It happens. There is no way to anticipate a low bridge on a road you never been on. That does not excuse running into it. Even if you miss seeing the sign how do you miss seeing a low bridge????

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

A funny family story:

One of my older brothers was a hay hauler. One evening just at dark they were trying to get the last load out of a field, but there were just a few too many bales. My brother goes go ahead and stick up and top...there's no bridges between here and the barn. So as they're diving back on that country road to the hay barn my brother's helper remarks: "Man, people sure go to bed early around here...I notice that every house we go past turns off their lights right after we go by"!

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!
