I ordered me a couple traps made by Harris traps in Montana. I got them in the mail today. A heavy built trap looks like it should do what it is supposed to do. And really different on the way the jaws are held down and also the way it trips. Took some thinking. A different way the chain hooks to the base of the trap. Anybody use these the last couple years. I buy a few traps of any kind just to have to show off at my trapping demos I do whenever I get the chance. These traps should get some questions and comments from some at my demos.

I bought a few of them, in several sizes. They work well, just a bit more expensive. If you dye or wax them go on YouTube and look up Under the Harris NDZ Trap Pan. you will need to clean the cross arms. They make one hand setters for them as well. I also bought the wolf trap. What a beast of a trap.

I like them alot, got about 4 dozen of the 6.5 , a dozen 5.5 and a hand full of the wolf traps. Slowly going to run all NDZ traps. After set make sure you push pan down and flat.

I switched to all NDZs the last few years I trapped coyotes ONLY because they are a quality build and fast! If the pan does not drop on it’s own when you set the trap, it isn’t prepared correctly! Period! I don’t give a crap, the pan isn’t designed to be pushed down, it’s suppose to drop on it’s own weight!
Several western trappers contacted me and berated me because of my videos were critical of the trap & their buddy even though that was the only trap I chose to use! My videos were made to show prospective buyers what they could expect and buying rather than buy a pig in a poke on heresay and bias blah-blah!
When I quit coyote trapping I specifically told prospective buyers of my NDZ traps to watch my NDZ videos before they buy. I truly believe that the trap was designed to be used without waxing or Harris gave little thought to what waxing does to the pan’s underpinning when in actual use. Also, there is a serious learning curve adjusting pan tension that prospective buyers need to know about and understand because for the uneducated, can cause a lot of hair pulling! LOL The trap will work flawlessly if it isn’t waxed OR a scentless silicone is used! I repeat- The trap will work flawlessly if it isn’t waxed OR a scentless silicone is used!
Here is another tip- when adjusting pan tension pay close attention to the where the trigger rests on the jaw AND the inside chamfer of the jaw!
These western trappers also told me that the cause of the triggers being bent was from my swivel catching the trigger and bending it not the coyote! That is absolute BS, the steel used in the manufacturing of the triggers was very soft. I spent a long time with a trap in the vise trying my darnedest to hook the trigger in a swivel so I could bend it BUT I could bend a trigger by grabbing onto the pan and pulling! All BS from the buddy system!

Where are you folks ordering the Harris traps from? I'm failing at finding them through any normal dealer. Do you have to order direct from the manufacturer? Yup, direct from Harris. He has ads in most all trapper’s publications.
