I received a call from a previous customer. They believe they have dead animals in their wall. I plan to cut it open, remove the dead and disinfect the area. Any recommendations on what to use? Thanks

The main thing to it is to get it dry. Unless it's a contact surface, aerosolized, or airborne particulate, the whole disease vector thing is overblown on simple decomp.
Get the source removed and any fluids mopped up, then apply a good desicating powder. The lack of water itself will kill off most microbes.

And it doesn't have to be fancy, I like a baking soda based product like carpet fresh.

A ten percent bleach solution is about as good as it gets for a wipe down if the surface can tolerate bleach.

Allegedly it is in the wall. I imagine drywall and 2x4 studs

Straight Hydrogen Peroxide works well too, and is friendlier to use than bleach.

Thanks fellows. I removed four dead juveniles; sprayed 10% bleach and sprinkled baking soda in there. I repaired the drywall and the smell had dissipated before I left.

Someone excluded or trapped a female coon or squirrel and didn't realize it was a lactating animal.

Force of habit every critter gets flipped over and plumbing checked.

Leaving a couple of those odor neutralizing soft bags will do a good job when left inside the interior wall where the odor originated. They work very well in confined areas.

Not always a nwco's fault. Or homeowner for that matter. Ford, Chevy, Dodge and others have orphaned more juveniles than us. Not to mention predators.

I'm not sure what happened to the mother. I never saw her after the first night on camera. Why she abandoned the kits is a mystery. I believe she met an untimely death.

Could be a rat or even a mouse is you sold your add ons correctly.

Otherwise you learned something.

My first call I capture the coon and though it was to early. Looked and
She was.
Sucked because I had to pull shingle and cut plywood to go through the roof.
Was great because I learned early that ya never know and add on pay well.

We all posted some kool stuff on this forum back in the old days. And some great humor.

Were is Paul Winkerdinkel when you need him….lol
