Guys, will most stake pullers pull out a pogo?
I pretty much run pogo anchors,,, but I have them on 3/32 cable and snip
Them off when I’m done trapping a particular area.I don’t feel like digging them out.

Been leaning towards getting one,, but didn’t want to waste money on one if it wasn’t effective for pogos.

John, my experience with pulling Pogos is that they will fold over...as cheap as they are.... keep snipping

They sometimes will fold but not always. I would guess in my soil less than half do. I use a pick to pull them. I put the pointed end of the pick in the swivel attached to the stake, rock it out as far as it will, then loop the stake around the pick and repeat, keeping wrapping the stake around the pick as you go. Kinda hard to explain in words but very easy to do....

A set of cable cutters is lighter than a stake puller
And a lot quicker

quick lock links work as well. Plus you can reset anytime because the anchor is already there.

IMO pogos are the only truly disposable cable anchor left.

How many pogos do you have to save to pay for the puller?

This^^^^^

And waaayyy easier on your back, shoulders, elbows, and wrists.

But to answer the Op's question: depending on your soil type, the washer will either fold up or a ferrule will release.....or it might pull up cleanly.

IF you trap the same locations every year why pull them or cut them? Some of mine have been the ground close to 20 years and still hold.

I could see this being a good idea

Not in our acid clay soil. I've had cable rot out from the inside in less than six months. Some of these high tannin beaver swamps will do it in less.

Valid point, Warrior. Maybe w/ chain it would work a little longer

I'm considering going all chain to a pogo. If it folds or the jhook opens that's all that's left in the ground and the only part(s) to replace, no making up new cable stakes.

I use wolf fang type anchors and most come up with a little effort and a 4' piece of heavy wall pipe with a chain and hook about a 1/3 of the way up.

I think a commercial puller would pull a pogo easily enough because they are thinner and will fold over if there is much resistance.

I don't like the idea of leaving "stuff" in the ground and like warrior stated, the soil will eat cable up down here.
Only reusable anchors that I have left out I use for coon as they don't have the pulling power. Would never trust a year old anchor to hold a coyote here.
