I do a little cattle moving some times but , got no horse , no rope , no spurs

[Linked Image]
put up the new wire with step in posts
I wind up a poly wire they all cross to fresh grass , put the wire back out and make it hot again.

move the water tank and mineral supplement

the go pull the wire from the pervious paddock so that it can be the new wire the next day

Good to see some traditional ranch work like that.
Thanks for sharing.

With my neighbor's fence building skills, I get to play cattle round up almost weekly. Like GCP though, no horses, ropes or spurs.

That’s the kind of four wheeler sevell would have gotten if he was a real man…. The petting his pony part would be a bit odd.

Yes Sir would probably not move cattle to grass without already being branded and caught up on shots. My quess is that this on needed a little supplement to help it along.

Sharon if I was more tech savvy id get a go pro and video it. Whenever I tell someone how I do it they have the same response. I wouldn't think im the only one that uses the technique but I've never seen anyone do it or talked to anyone else that does it.

Drought has slowed him down. Needs a little more rain to get his sail boat up the last 50 miles of the Cottonwood

Cool pic. Land tracts not big enough for horse work here but theres been cows on this place longer than ive been living (soon 49). Grandad always chased new calves down on a 4 wheeler and i jumped off to catch em for banding or vit B shot. I remember grabbing a santa gertrudis calf one time and his mama ate me up.
Grandad rolled out on the 4 wheeler. When he came back he said youre young youll heal up wont no sense in her getting both of us lol. Wish he was still around.

Been around a few of those Santa Gertrudis cows, they won't hesitate to look you up. Neighbor bought about 4 loads of them when I was a kid. They came off a big outfit in the TX Panhandle. Don't think they had been handled a lot. We dehorned everyone of them and about half of those rips would would turn around and come hunting you up when you let them out of the chute. When your young and its not your cows we thought it was a lot of fun handling them.

With these prices your dang sure not throwing a trip on one. Never seen the head then heal method, we get them stop and throw a coil around them to get a loop around the hinds or fronts and lay them down.
