I been subscribed to Alaska Land Sales for many years and have spent hours looking at pieces of land over the years. I doubt I would ever buy a piece now at my age but I can always dream. Anyone else been follow the DNR land sales in Alaska.
I applied to go to work up there when they where installing pipeline on the North Slope but never got a job My friend that applied at the same time did and made a lot of money and stayed up there many years.

Here the site is.

I worked for Alaska DNR in Land Sales for many years (I'm now retired.)

Here is the bottom line: They do not put up much decent land for sale. And when they do put some up, it's either a subdivision or you end up with a ton of neighbors all staking around each other. Getting a good piece of ground with no neighbors (what most of us want...) is virtually impossible!

The DNR hates actually making good land available for private sales and works hard to avoid doing so!

And by the way, the OTC (over-the-counter) parcels are the REAL DREGS of the land sales. The ones that no one wanted!

Pete

Thanks Pete! Interesting and some good inside knowledge.

Most of that land is only fit for raising muskrats and mosquitoes. Access in many cases is difficult to impossible and always expensive.
