Couple things I read about those welders to make them better, a better ground clamp, like swamp said, and a better grade of wire, according to forums on them....that's all I got!, lol

You get better penetration with flux core versus gas shielded but you don't have a large enough duty cycle on these small welders for bigger jobs

What is the duty cycle on the welder?

Sorry, I see 30 percent.

Yes you'll have the penetration if you have prepped your pieces correctly and understand multi-pass welding techniques.

139$ is worth a gamble. New little 110 Lincoln is about 800$

A friend that shops there often usually purchases the extended warranty on items that warrant.

This welder rides in my camp trailer full time when working in woods. My only complaint is a suitcase generator is underpowered, but a 3500 will run the welder. I had a job with a burnt up 30,000 lb generator we needed to snake off the mountain. I took half a day with this welder and a grinder and welded a d ring on the heel rack off a 330 log loader. We pulled the finals and worked the machine down the mountain. Half way down, the excavator cut free and rolled off the edge of the slope on the road. We set lift chains on either side of the undercarriage and lifted the excavator completely off the ground and set it back in the roadway with the harbor freight welded D ring. I won’t work in the woods without one around.

When we are guiding or doing depredation work, we spend several weeks or more on the hill with not much access to service trucks or even a Walmart to scab something together. I bring several sticks of rebar, some angle, half a sheet of expanded metal and the titanium and pretty much can have any vehicle back on the road in an afternoon.

Hats off to harbor freight. And yes Purchase the extended warranty

You sure have tried it out way more than I ever will.....lol

I just finished 21 rebar drowning rods and locks, and a bunch of rebar stakes.

Got a few other odd and end trap support items to do and then some repairs on a couple conduit deer stands......that's about it for me.

But, I can see where that little green welder will handle some heavy metal work after turning up the heat and wire speed a little.

Hard to beat $120. I got the Millermatic 211. I'm amazed how much it makes it look like I can weld.

Turn the knob to set your wire diameter.
Use the gage to measure your thinnest material thickness, set the dial.
Plug into 110 or 220 and turn on your gas.
Get a mask that auto-darkens.
Grind and clean your work before welding.
Grind and clean your work after welding.
Watch some youtube videos on pool control / manipulation.

...and you are a welder.

What is the economy plasma cutter a guy should should get?

I started mig welding with the Chicago 90 flux core but got tired of the splatter and cleaning slag and upgraded to the Titanium 140. I have since upgraded to the 170. That 170 is a good machine. I use the CO2/argon mix with mine. I dread running out of gas and having to finish up with flux core wire after welding gas shielded. I keep a small reserve bottle on hand so if I run my big bottle out I have enough with the small bottle to keep going until I can get to town.

Absolutely great! Have almost used up the 1st roll of wire.

Best money I've spent at HF. I've built drowning rods, rebar stakes, drowning locks, 330 tall supports, repaired disk harrow frame, repaired agitator on drop spreader, built kick stand support for 3pt implements, and extension handles on fertlizer & lime spreaders so I can reach from tractor seat.

Very little spatter. Easy to run a decent looking bead. Chart on inside of lid is pretty accurate for metal thickness vs wire speed/heat. Sounds like a sheet of paper tearing when its welding!

Just bought myself a father's day gift last Sunday to go with the welder. Got this cart (matching color) b4 I knocked it off welding table and damaged it.

Love this welder!

What brand of wire did you upgrade to? I have the HF Chicago 90 amp flux core and use holbart wire. Curious what others use.

I've been using a Lincoln wire. It is a multipass wire. I can't remember the exact number on it.

This is what my local welding supply sells. Washington Alloy. The only flux core wire they sell. Only brand I've used and it works good.

2 lb roll is $14.

All wire is multipass...if you brush off the slag.

The little green 125 does not come with any wire.

If you ever weld with the 125 you'll never use the 90 again. My 90 is rolled over into a corner in the shop where that spattering thing can stay until I sell it.

The black 90 is an AC welder. The green 125 is DC (has a AC to DC converter.) Huge difference!!!
