Why do you think the standard lure bottle volume is 1 oz?

Lure was relatively more expensive years ago. Because of the cost was bottle size kept to 1 oz so trappers could afford it?

Lure was mailed in small tubes in those days. Was that bottle size more conducive to ship?

Was the small bottle size preferred by trappers to carry on the line and to apply?

Just wanted to get some thoughts on this. The history of the lure industry intrigues me.

Maybe it looked more magical and intriguing in small quantities, you know like the magic potion. We all know no one sells magic potions by the quart... lol

I believe a combination of points you have made would be a good summation of the reason for the selected size initially.

Todd, as Bob said and I would think it's easier for a trapper to carry a few 1oz bottles then a few larger size bottles back in the day.

Stanley Hawbaker would only sell his lures in 1 oz. bottles. He didn't want someone buying his lures in bulk and selling it under a different name.
