You will have to narrow up the centers. 16" is too wide. 12" needed.

The composite flexes....a lot.

High traffic areas like at doors and steps should be even closer centers for sturdiness.

I riped some of the composit deck boards down to replace boards on an old cast iron bench and swamp is 100% correct on how much more thay flex than wood.

Don't know all the different makes but I've seen highly variable durability in heat and high UV exposure, particularly in high sun like boat docks. Some can be slippery when wet. But I may be thinking of older products that didn't last.

Do you know anyone who has the type of composite deck boards you're looking to buy?
They will give you the pros and cons of that particular type
They make it for 16" on center, from some companies

I personally hate how hot they get in the summer

This^^^

Very hot in direct sunlight....NO BAREFEET!

Frosty = you will bust your butt!

My experience is a 16'x16' open deck. Won't use composite again.

Ya I was thinking that they might be slippery when they get some snow on them.Hopefully they are not bad when just wet.

Try to get the decking that uses the clips, hard to screw from the top and make it look good. Hot in the summer (lighter colors not so bad) and slippery when wet, but in the sun, it melts ice better than wood.

Yes on the spacing, no more than 16", and nail pops are another thing, the walks at the marina are ring nailed and they pop...I guess screwing it down is best....

It is like anything else, buy the good quality stuff from Trex or Timber Tech and most of the issues listed above go away. The cheap thinner stufff with scalloped bottoms is cheaper but…
