I'm 90 percent sure its not Fraud. I googled the companies who were getting these payments. Vending machine companies. I called the assisted living facility where my 85 year old debit card holder lives and confirmed 2 separate vending machines. Somebody has figured out how to debit snacks and beverages. Or their friends have. smile

Thats great. Reminds me of mom trying to figure out the small chatlrged every day to the acount at the athletic club my freshman year. I was walking over after school working out and swimming every day and geting a blueberry bagle every day. When I went to pay for it they just put it on the account the first day and I never thought about it after that.

Once mom figured it out it she laughed pretty hard but like you she was conserned untill it was figured out.

I don't use debit cards. Ihave had credit cards hacked s couple of times. Bank is now set up to send a notice of all transactions. Anything out of the ordinary is held waiting for my reply that I did make the charge even here when buying lure. International orders are usually rejected on first time orders, with a note that if valid transaction to acknowledge and resubmit the order. It's a PITB to have to get new cards, up to 7 days depending on when the card gets closed. And it seems to always be right before convention season too.

I use cash at most everything. The exception is gas and online orders. Big purchases I use the card for the cash back. Wife buys groceries with a card.

There has been no difference for me between debit card and credit card fraud protection. I have had my debit card get fraud charges 3 times. I didnt see it the bank caught it txt me asking to confirm the charges. I asked the wife she said they were not us. Text back the no prompt. Card was shut down and new one was sent out to us. The biggest hassle was puting the new cards numbers in all the bills set with auto pay.

Its the same when its my credit card.. they are both from the same credit union

Same here,The only place I use my debit card is at the bank to get cash.
never had any problems getting scammed or otherwise ripped off.
I dont need to hire a credit company to pay my bills for me.
When I sell stuff privately I dont take credit cards or money transfers if they want something I got they can go to a bank machine and get me some cold hard cash.
Cash is king.

I think there is a difference between a visa/mc debit card and a plain bank debit card. The way I understand it is visa/mc debit card tied to your account you get the fraud protection like a CC. If it’s just a bank debit it’s whatever the bank has in debit card agreement as far as fraud goes.

I believe this may be right, because I remember being totally reimbursed one time for a Visa debit card for fraudulent charges.

Cash Works great untill your required to have direct deposits and cant get to the bank during banking hours but once a month. Its was a gradual change for me over the last 20 years.
