They don't stop on a dime. I've seen them throw it into reverse to keep control in current when rounding bends back home.

Just depends. I've only drive a few times and that was in the canal with a light current wasn't too bad with two loads but you can't just stop them like you would a car . Basically you gotta throw it in reverse to stop your forward motion. Now when you start getting into the big tows 20+ eek most of them captains I talk to say they plan there stops like a mile down

Looks a fraction of the size of those barges "Amazing Grace" is pushing

It's kinda a guide deal . The tow boat pushing can't see over them racks so the one in front is likes it's eyes and helps steering it around . It's not as long but wider with less vision
