Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

It's a Nordic Forge clinch cutter. They mostly make farrier tools. They are in Iowa.

Thanks for posting that. I knew that I had seen one before somewhere being used but couldn't shake it loose from my fuzzy memory, lol. We had a tiny woman farrier come out to shoe those hayburners we boarded for a few years. She could manhandle those horses, the quarterhorse was lazy and was bad to lean on her, lol. If my memory is working now she used the straight beveled side to get under the clinch and a hammer to bend the clinch so it could be backed out.

3 generations of friends of mine worked pulling ponies for many years. They occasionally had up to 140 ponies, but usually 70 or 80. They had a couple of those clinch cutters and a whole lot of other farrier tools. They had a huge amount of medical tools and medicine. They could take a foundered, near worthless pony, work on it and train it for a few months and sell it for quite a bit. Marvin, the dad/grandpa and Pete, his son, would drive the ponies in pulling weighted sleds. Austin and Trevor, the grandsons/sons would curry and harness the ponies and curry the ponies again, once they were finished and lathered up. During the school year, they trained ponies from 4:00pm until well after dark most nights. When school was out, they trained most of the day. They had it down to a science. They won pulling competitions all over the US.
