FYI she was great friend of and respected the armed forces. She would spend her own dime to go entertain the troops. One of her greatest gifts was to children where she founded the imagination library giving million of books to children to help them learn to read. She did this because as a a child she did not have books to read because her family was very poor.
She passed away from cancer.

I was just reading about the imagination library myself. Good on her for being such a positive influence on society.

That's one of the things I respected most about Dolly. She gave away 304,539,509 books to children. Currently they give away 3 million books a month, because they have expanded the program to other countries.

Saying your little shady digs on every post I make .

Better look in the mirror before you start slinging comments like that around.

Back when country was country. This just about says all there is to be said...........likely as not that was based on true story and that one song pretty much tells you who she was. As with Loretta Lynn, most of her stuff was like that. As I understand it, her song "I will always love you" was written for and to Porter Wagoner.........when she cut ties and moved on. And once she moved on......she went far.

I know she did a lot for charities and if I remember right she donated a huge amount of money after a natural disaster a few years ago. She was a class act all the way. Is there any other celebrity out the there that's as generous? I can't think of any.

A very caring person who had no limit on what she would do to help the less fortunate. One of the best when it comes to celebrities. She will be missed.

Dolly is timeless. She always spoke of being kind, upbuilding to others . In interviews, she mentions taking problems as reasons to turn them into positives. The ones she had no control over, didn't allow them to infect her personality and kind countenance. A realistic , happy life view, making her pleasing to be around. I enjoyed a few of those interviews yesterday in videos.

She will be missed very much.

Quick note...Nessy has always been kind with an even keeled countenance , to my observation. Words alone are very handicapped as to the full spectrum of sight and sound in communicating , being easily misunderstood. Observing one's personality displayed in writing over time can show the base signature of the mindset. He has shown general happiness and kindness, in my opinion, not the personality of a fire ant.

If I don't understand someone's thought, simply asking them to clarify saves much time and misplaced, toxic anger.

My favorite song of Dolly's is " I Will Always Love You."

Thank you Dolly, for setting such a good example in life's lessons.

Known and honored world wide. The Band of the Coldstream Guard played her iconic song "9 to5" at the changing of the guard. She was a down to earth person with a great personality and sense of humor. She could laugh at herself.

I knew that she had recently released a rock album but I didn’t know the full story behind it.

The Rock and Roll HOF chose to induct her for her contributions to music as a whole and for her contributions helping others artists. She tried to decline the honor as she didnt consider herself a rock and roll artist. The HOF insisted so at age 77 she decided to become a rockstar and released her Rockstar album in collaberation with many greats.

Here is her rendition of Freebird.
