Rvsask, ok so a few countries offered a token here and there. So small it sure didn't get any press I saw or just our press is terrible. I know the 2nd to be true.
Does not change the facts. The politicians that you and other countries would like are the same that supported the free trade agreement, environmental, and other not business friendly restrictions in the US that encouraged and allowed/supported our manufacturing to move out of the country. Naturally you and other countries loved them. You benefited right along with the big corporations.
Not surprising you home in on one part like a dog on a bone and miss the big picture. The US needs to take care of the US first . That is going to make a lot of people used to benefiting off at our expense unhappy.
Not much different than Trump saying if you dont meet your nato requirements wont wont defend you. Made those Not paying unhappy. But they sure did increase their defense spending after that.

Your first sentence says everything here. You’re just unwilling to accept what might go against your narrative. A few countries offered a token……..lol, that’s a poor deflection from the truth: The free trade agreement that Donny renewed into the greatest trade deal ever in the history of the earth do you mean? You could read all his tweets about it from October 2018 if you want or all of the comments in the press after its signing in 2019 if you wanted to. Economists in the USA predict that your state could lose 30000 jobs and almost 700 million in GDP losses over the next 7 years if this drags out. I’m sure that’s okay by you though, as long as someone else gets hurt even more. lol It’s somewhat fascinating watching so many middle class has be convinced they need to go through tough times for the better of the nation while “the swamp that was to be drained” political donors; friends and family of administration etc are making crazy bank right now. Multi billionaire Howard Nutlick just barks like a dog on trade, rolls around in his pile of 100 dollar bills yet the common man like you PF think he’s for you. Haha

700 million is nothing compared to what the US has given to foreign countries by weak administrations, contributing to a $40 trillion debt..which only keeps growing

Im sure those figures are leaving out the new jobs that will be coming back to the US. Maybe we will start making your airplains in Indiana. Those same corporate executives types that moved Manufacturing from America will quickly see 50% of their products sell to America and if they want that market they have to make them here now will quickly decide to make them here. Its not a who get hurt more . There will be some short term growing pains but ultimately the US will greatly benefit. Rolling back regulations and making America production more business friendly goes along with it. Unfortunately when the administration changes eventually and the sell outs will move things back the other direction. There is a huge national security aspect when so much is out sourced. A good example is the the amount of our pharmaceuticals made outside the US. Every country would be smart to be able to supply critical things themselves. The US outsourcing has gone on way to long. I dont blaim other countries for taking advantage of the corrupt politicians and corporate greed. Thats natural . But I cant stand the pretending they have not benefited from it at the cost of the America people.

Part of the tariff reasons is agriculture subsidies, especially dairy, Canada was supposed to lower the subsidies that comes through the quota system and not allowing a free market like here in the U.S. Bob, you really need to look into the dairy thing. You are actually the one country of the two that subsidized dairy (about 22 billion annually). You should also look into those high numbers you keep hearing parroted on dairy, they only apply after a certain quota has been filled, you nevere come close to the quota. For real, read into the quota system, how often those tariffs have been applied.

Over 1/4 of that debt has come in a six year period of one president's two terms. I'm sure his approach will save it all and that he is much stronger than the weak ones who added the rest of the debt.

If anyone should be our closest allies it should be them. That's the general consensus here. This is just a short term blip in our relationship. Once more level heads take over, things will change. CTV interviewed the Commander of the Pacific Fleet the other day. What he said was very encouraging for the people on both sides of the border. He obviously was treading very carefully on what he said so as not to be charged with insubordination.....lol

The damage to the American aerospace industry this would cause has been pointed out by many. But I'm sure you'll be making them in Indiana right away, after all there hasn't been any empty threats so far. It is almost like you should be mad at corporate execs from there that decided to get richer elsewhere more than at other countries for allowing them to move. I would love for you to cite some "not friendly for business restrictions" in the USA that caused jobs to come to Canada.

the reason the quotas never kicked in cause the importers know that when they hit that point the 250% kicks in and there won't be any extra sales. Give it some thought, You seem to be a reasonable guy.

The world is working together, not against the USA, but against your leaders, sadly I understand that you had pretty poor choices and you’re stuck with what you got for a bit. A shorter list is who’s working with Israel & your government. And if you honestly understood just what we think of that you would be on your knees begging for forgiveness. Make America Great Again means exactly that and to perdition with the rest of you.
