First off, I want to start this by saying that I think the trade war Trump started with y'all is pretty ludicrous, and I am not a fan. That said, what is up with this? Are you all, as a country, that afraid of losing our alliance that you're already running back to Europe? When I first started reading the article I thought it must be satire.... except that the WSJ does not post satire..... Shortly after Canada and America became embroiled in the worst bilateral trade war in their modern history, the secure phones of Europe’s top leaders lit up with a trans-Atlantic call. Mark Carney was pushing to take Canada’s relationship with the EU to the next level—a bold gambit to rewire the economic cabling of the Western alliance.
For months, the Canadian prime minister had held private conversations with almost every major European leader—from France to Italy, Germany and Scandinavia and even some of the continent’s lesser-known royals—on how to more deeply plug Canada and its 41 million people into Europe’s 27-nation club.
Now, Carney was accelerating Canada’s pivot to Europe, matchmaking a shotgun marriage to offset the pain of its divorce with America. In effect, a threat to make Canada the 51st state is pushing America’s northern neighbor so close to Europe that leaders have begun to half-in-jest dub it the EU’s newest member. The rest of the story....(For some reason some people can not see the WSJ articles that I gift, so if you can't and want to read it, say something and I will copy and paste the entire thing.)
Regret is the one thing I just won't do ~~ Beth Dutton

It's sickening. There's a huge number of voting age Canadians who are interested in nothing more than screeching about how evil Americans are and they're perfectly comfortable snuggling up with mass murdering commies from the other side of the planet because "at least they're not American". I'll go so far as to say that there's a fair amount of ignorance and bluster from the US side too, but the cognitive dissonance here in Canada is unnerving. People here will happily cut off their noses to spite their face. I've sat this out for the most part on here, and I think I'll probably continue to do so., except to say that if anyone over here trusts the folks in power either in the EU or Asia to have our best interest at heart, I've got a bridge to sell them too.
Just happy to be here.

The EU will use Canada as a dumping ground for the migrants it doesn't want. The tift between Canada and the U.S is stupid at every level, just a distraction along with $5,000 checks and a Greenland takeover

Carney is a globalist who is betraying his people, with mass migration of inferior people and is cozing up to the other globalists betraying their people, by also replacing their people with inferior people. Carney has had British and Irish passports in the past. He wants Canada to be a part of the new world order, not an independent country.
Canada has long taken advantage of the US. They are a user, not an ally. If they would just treat the US fairly and meet their financial obligations, President Donald Trump would ease up on them. [
European Canadians are doomed. 45% of their population is now made up of first or second generation immigrants, including Boco. But most aren't like Boco and bring their own crap cultures and beliefs. The sad reality is that China or India will very likely control Canada in 30 years or less. It's probably too late to save Canada for traditional Canadians.
Keith Keith: as a Canadian I would truly like to understand how you feel that Canada has taken advantage of the US. Can you cite one concrete example that makes you believe this? Its one thing to claim you were taken advantage of. Its a whole other thing to say Canadians have not been a US ally. Quite frankly, as a Canadian, that is offensive. Do just a bit of research before you post drivel like this. If Canada has not been there for the US, who has been? Who has been more of an ally?

My main gripe about Canada is that they screwed us out of mandatory country of origin labeling in beef. That could be easily rectified without a trade war

My main beef with Canada is that they seem to be throwing in with the CCP. Have enough of those turncoats in the U.S. hierarchy, sure don't need our northern neighbor throwing in with them.

Yes Canada is a great ally.
Canada relies on the U.S. military far more than the U.S. relies on Canada
Our govts are both childish. Acting like grade school kids fighting over a game of marbles.
Canada needs to stop letting the worlds refuse immigrate.
The border should be open. No tariffs or trade restrictions either direction. anything less is just silly.
Canada has for years relied on taxes from the U.S. to support their medical system. Canada spends very little on military. Relying on the U.S. instead. Those two things must change.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Keith: as a Canadian I would truly like to understand how you feel that Canada has taken advantage of the US. Can you cite one concrete example that makes you believe this? I'm not Keith but I can give you an example. For decades Canada has been dumping its low-cost lumber on the US market and doing significant financial damage to US lumber producers. If it were a level playing field I'd be all for low-cost, construction-grade lumber but it's not. Canadian lumber mills receive federal and local government subsidies like below-market harvesting fees to cut trees on Crown land. They have an unfair advantage over US lumber mills which don't receive government subsidies.
Eh...wot?

Fortunately the U.S. doesn't subsidize any businesses in the U.S. Now I'm going to spend the morning listening to non-stop helicopters flying for two government paid for mining exploration projects while I try to call in a moose.

Much of this fight is apparently over agriculture, something the U.S govt subsidizes and has a huge reliance on illegal labor.
