Not me but I do know a couple rodeo clowns. I believe MJM here on TM, was a rodeo clown. If my memory is correct.

Many years ago, I attended some bullfights in Spain. They were a mixture of skill and cruelty, especially the dude on the padded horse. Everybody hated him. I remember a teenage matador who worked a bull while sitting on his knees. Came home and discovered he was a national hero and that a movie had been made about him.

Saw a matador with one eye and a massive facial scar. A bull had gored him in the neck, and the bull's horn exited his eye socket. Must pay well.

He's good , I enjoy watching a good bull fight.

Clowns entertain then there's cowboy protection which is during the bull riding and these guys who compete to show their skills on handling bulls. These guys normally work protection too but not all that do cowboy protection compete.

My favorite fight that I have seen was Rob Smetts fake a bull so hard it lost its footing and skidded on its nose.

In the day to day work of a cowhand what is the purpose of riding a bull?
I believe riding a wild horse is for getting it to accept a saddle and rider.Is Bull riding solely for entertainment or is there a purpose for it beyond competitive sport?
Just curious.

If you are training a hores correctly they may not buck at all. Its not done like in the westerns. You build up trust and start ground work, general in a round pen. Its done over a period of time weeks to months. Look up taming/training a mustang. There are a lot of videos on it.

Rob Smetts was a legend and a super nice guy. Frank Newsome was the best in my opinion. They’re all good and super athletes to do what they do

Frank was dang sure the tuffest sob going, he never did bull fights as far as I know but no one better at cowboy pretection. Rob was good at both and took it to the next level, good guy.

I have a pic somewhere of my son when he clowned the mutton bustn in vagas of Rob, Frank, Shorty and Greg with my son in vegas about 2005.. My son is 25 now lol. He out grew that thank god lol

MRlin, never been to his schools. The last time I talked to Rob was in a little bar in the MGM during the finals. Now that I think about it, it’s been a long while since that night. The reason I know this is I remember Fred Whitfield just standing by a wall in the casino that night with a toothpick in his mouth looking like he wanted to kill the world lol. Webster, Tuckness, and Harpe are sure fun to watch. Speaking of old bullfighters. I just randomly caught an interview with Roach Hedeman the other day on YouTube. He really looked/ sounded rough! I don’t feel like Tuff has aged very well and rightfully so; but man oh man, Roach really looked tough. I don’t know if he’s had some health issues or what.
